Freaky Freaky

Man i don't know what's been up lately. It's just been freaaaaaaaaakiness everywhere around me. First up, my new next door neighbor (across from me) is just plain SCARY looking! He looks like a cross between retarded, Axe wielding maniac, and just PLAIN FREAKY! I swear no matter WHAT time of day i see him, he ALWAYS looks like he just woke up, has a massive hangover, and looks FREAKY.

Then last last Friday (14th), Susan and i went to the Goldcoast for a late night dinner. We pulled into the parking lot and it's freaking FULL. Now bear in mind this is the Goldcoast hotel. The GOLDCOAST! Most of you reading this probably don't even know where that is (you can cheat and go here: www.goldcoastcasino.com). So after Susan and i finally park and still wonder why the lot is so full (the only time I've ever seen the parking lot this full was on New Year's Eve). As we're walking into the hotel i noticed a few people were dressed '50s like. As we get near the entrance, we see even more people '50s like (and just a lot of people period!). When we get inside the hotel it's like a California prison in there! Just packed full of weirdos (and just packed) and plenty of tattooed people in '50s outfits. It's so crowded we could barely walk through the place. The usual Pinay 3 some of singers weren't singing that night either. Every single gambling table was full and it was noisy and smoky (if you've never been to the Goldcoast, it's normally a crowd of people in their 40-50S in there so this was really strange). When we got to the cafe, it was only half full or so which we thought we'd be waiting forever since there were so many people (the lack of people here is usually why we eat here late night). After we're sat, i ask our bus boy (a young black dude) if it's Freaky '50s Friday. He had no clue and was wondering what this was (80% of the freaky people were white). We then asked our waitress what the hell was going on (she was an older white lady) and she said it was some hot rod show type thing called the Rockabilly weekend or something. It was being held at the Goldcoast which is why so many people were there.

That's my freakiness stories. I had a fun birthday weekend last week. I flew out to LA on Jet Blue (the flight is so short i can barely finish my drink by the time we're landing). Since i was flying into Jet Blue, i decided i wanted to go to Lucille's for dinner www.lucillesbbq.com
Surprisingly we didn't have to wait too long (40 minutes, but we timed it so that Phil and Sannie put the reservation in first and then picked me up) so that was nice. I got a birthday sundae too!
The next day we went to a place Phil has been wanting to go to for 3 years! The Pirate's Dinner Adventure! A little backstory on that: When Phil went to Orlando with one of our uncles back in 2003 (in April so it really has been 3 years) they were there for 2 WEEKS and they still didn't get through all of the parks! Talk about Slooooooooooooow. Phil saw this place there and wanted to go but he was in the minority and didn't get to go. When Susan and i went last year, we were pressed for time (she moves slow too but not as slow as my uncle's family) so we couldn't go either.

As luck would have it, they opened a 2nd location in Buena Park (north of the Disneyland area for you non OC people) so we finally got to go. The place is a bit expensive ($50 a person, plus we tipped about $30 to our server) but it's neat and i think doing good business on the weekend. There are three shows on Saturday. 1pm, 5pm, and 8pm or something like that. We wanted to go to the 8pm, but it was sold out a week in advance! So we tried the 5pm and got the 5 tickets! (there were 6 of us so they oversold it a bit so I'm wondering if someone else got SOL on that). There were some people who were REALLY into this show. They dressed up as pirates just to attend the show (we're talking about adults in their 50's, not kids). They tell you to get there 2 hours before the show and you get a weird buffet (it's a really open room with 2 bars and the buffet stations are located all over the place so you have to walk the entire area (2 big ass rooms basically) to get everything. Then the show actually starts in this waiting area. A princess and a gymnast get kidnapped in the bar area and then you're taken to the ship area for the dinner and show. It's about 1.5 hours or so but it goes by fast and was pretty neat.

Thanks to Sarah, Becky, Jennie, Jill and Jennifer (as well as my family) for the birthday cards and stuff. Especially Jennie since i forgot her birthday. Sorry Jen!

b!
